TKM College OF Engineering. School Code: 28391 www.ieeetkm.8m.net Annual Report Year 2000. The IEEE student chapter TKMCE felt a new burst of energy and
enthusiasm in the year 2000, with the induction of new members
in the branch and with their active participation in the
various branch activities. Under the guidance of our branch
counselor Er. V. Sajith and with the supervision of the office
bearers the student branch continues with the motto of all
round personality development of all the student members.
The current membership strength is 40 with renewals and new
members.
1. Clairvoyance 2000. The activities of the Branch started with the inaugural
two-day camp, Clairvoyance- 2000, presided by Er. Narayanan,
vice-chairman IEEE Kerala section, and Mr. Kamal V Rao,
district collector Kollam. Er Narayanan delivered a lecture
on social responsibility of a software engineer.
The two-day personality development camp conducted by
Red. Col. Gopakumar (TVM), focused on interviews and
group discussions.
2. Aptitude Tests A series of three Aptitude tests were conducted,
with emphasis on verbal and non-verbal ability,
numerical ability and logical reasoning. About 200
students took the tests. The aim of these tests was to
get the members competent with aptitude tests,
which are commonly employed for screening students in
various competitive exams. It also helped to boost the
performance level of participants in several campus
recruitment programs.
3. Mock CAT Exam. A mock CAT exam was conducted in association with Career
Institute TVM. About 120 students participated.
The test paper was based on the All India Common Admission
Test, for selection of students for the premier Management
study institutes in India.
4. Launch of Web site. The IEEE student Branch launched its Web site www.ieeetkm.8m.net.
The web site provides information regarding the branch activities, the college
membership information, and feedback forms. With the launch of the web site
members can register online for the various activities.
5. Seminar - " How Things Work?" A paper presentation competition is scheduled to be held on
first week February 2001. The contenders are required to
select a device/contraption/technology and to present a
paper on the working principles of the same.
· Book exhibition with discount on books for members. · Field trip. · A seminar on e-commerce. · Addition of more features to the web-site. We are expecting to improve the membership with induction of new members for the year 2001 and we are looking forward towards a much brighter future ahead.
